Secure Share Profile
A Secure Share profile is a convenient way to store encryption-decryption passphrases of the people you regularly use Secure Share with.
How to create Secure Share Profiles?
Through Settings
- Open Settings in Cacti by tapping on the gear Icon
- Choose the menu option ‘Secure Share Profiles’
- Tap on the ‘+’ icon to add a new profile
Scenario 1: Create a profile for a friend and yourself
- A passphrase would be generated automatically
- You could tap on ‘Generate New Passphrase’ to randomly generate another passphrase.
- Or, type your own. Keep in mind, a longer passphrase is always better; read our [Passphrase Guidelines] for more details.
- Add a name to the profile and create it.
Scenario 2: Import a profile a friend has already created
- If your friend is around, you could scan the QR code from their Cacti app to add the same profile onto yours.
- Or, scan the QR code from a screenshot on your Photos app shared by your friend to add the profile.
- Alternately, copy the passphrase your friend has created for the shared profile and paste it manually in the Encryption Passphrase field. The passphrase has to be shared with you outside of Cacti.
- Add a name to the profile and create it.
During Encryption or Decryption
- When you are in an encryption or decryption flow, tap on the ‘+’ icon to create a new profile.
- The different ways of creating the Secure Share Profile and their steps would remain the same as above.
- Once created, the new profile could be used to complete your encryption or decryption flows.
- Alternately, if you chose to go with a One Time Passphrase during encryption or decryption, you would be given an opportunity at the end to create a new profile using that passphrase.
